Wildlife Experiences, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people through wildlife education, raptor rehabilitation and avian conservation programs. Wildlife Experiences was founded in 2000 by Melissa Horton. Our staff presents 275-300 educational programs each year across South Dakota. eastern Wyoming and northwestern Nebraska. Many of the programs for young people are presented for free because of a generous gift from Black Hills Power. We rehabilitate birds, primarily raptors, that are brought to our facility. In any given year we may receive 50-75 birds in need of assistance. Between 2002-2006 we partnered with SD Game, Fish & Parks to reintroduce osprey to the Missouri River near Yankton and Vermillion SD. We also contribute financially to research on Attwater’s Prairie Chickens, an endangered species found in Texas. Our current goals include moving to our own facility in the Black Hills. |
