WHAT'S WILD
Ages: Preschool to 2nd
Length: 30 min
Group size: ~25
Summary: Would it be fun to have a rabbit as a pet? What about a hawk? We'll bring some animals that are safe to pet, and some that are decidedly non-cuddly, and talk about what makes them different.
BIRDS OF THE WORLD
Ages: All
Length: 30 min – 1 hour
Group size: Any (within reason)
Summary: Variety is the spice of life! We’ll bring a mix of birds from all over
the world, tell you their unique stories, and challenges they may face in their
native lands.
BIRDS OF SOUTH DAKOTA
Ages: All
Length: 30 min - 1 hour
Group size: Any (within reason)
Summary: Meet your neighbors! We have several birds you may have seen
soaring overhead or running underfoot in your backyard. Here's a chance to
see them up close in your classroom.
PRAIRIE
Ages: 4th-12th
Length: 30 min – 1 hour
Group size: up to 50

OWLS
Ages: All
Length: 30 min - 1 hour
Group size: Any (within reason)
Summary: Eerie hoots - stealthy flight - that crazy vomit stuff - here's a
chance to see the mysterious nighttime hunters in the light of day (or the
fluorescent lights of your classroom). We'll learn some astonishing things
about these predators, and the truth may be stranger than fiction.
RAVENOUS RAPTORS
Ages: All
Length: 30 min - 1 hour
Group size: Any (within reason)
Summary: Velociraptors have nothing on today's winged hunters! Encounter
several different birds of prey, see the weapons of their trade, and
discover their different life/hunting styles.
ANIMAL TRAINING
Ages: 7th and up
Length: 45 - 60 min
Group size: up to 50
Summary: Have you ever wondered how we get wild animals to calmly ride
around on our hands, or to whistle Beethoven? Find out in this class which
covers operant conditioning, and see if your students are trainable as well.
BIRDBRAINS (Animal Intelligence)
Ages: 7th and up
Length: 30 min - 1 hour
Group size: Any
Summary: When it comes to brains, size isn't everything. Prepare to be
astonished by the skills of some of our avian coworkers, and hear tales of
birds stealing the cream from milk bottles, guiding badgers to beehives, and
flying to the same exact spot every year without the aid of GPS.
THE DISAPPEARING BIRD (Conservation)
Ages: 7th and up
Length: 1 hour
Group size: up to 50
Summary: Many birds are threatened, endangered, or extinct - even some
common birds are in decline. Our ambassadors from the bird world will help
us explain what threats today's birds face, what we can do to help, and
share some success stories.
We are happy to tailor a program to your needs. If you'd like a specific
bird to visit, let us know and we'll try to make it happen.
If your school or community is in the Black Hills Power
http://www.blackhillspower.com area, your program will be free,
thanks to a generous donation from Black Hills Power!
